Four Arrested in California for Bear Attack Insurance Fraud

In California, four individuals were arrested for staging bear attacks on luxury cars to collect insurance money. Authorities revealed that a bear costume was used to simulate the incidents.

Four people were arrested in California for using a bear costume to simulate attacks by those animals on luxury vehicles in order to claim damages from insurance companies, reported the state Department of Insurance. According to a statement released by the public agency, it was discovered that a person in costume was responsible for the attacks on three high-end cars in Lake Arrowhead, California, on June 28. A biologist from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife assisted in the investigation by reviewing security camera footage showing a furry creature inside a 2010 Rolls Royce and two Mercedes Benz from 2015 and 2022. The vehicle owners claimed a total of $141,839 from their insurers for the damages. In the low-quality images, a furry figure was clearly seen affecting the interior of the vehicles, and detailed damage to the leather upholstery and the dashboard was shown. The Department of Insurance also revealed a photograph of the life-size bear costume with sharp claws that the arrested individuals allegedly used, who were charged with fraud against an insurance company and conspiracy to commit fraud. It was revealed that the claws were actually kitchen utensils used for tearing meat. The individuals involved in this curious case were identified as Ruben Tamrazian, 26; Ararat Chirkinian, 39; Vahe Muradkhanyan, 32; and Alfiya Zuckerman, 39, all residents of the Los Angeles area. The detectives from the Department of Insurance in charge of the investigation named this operation 'Bear Paw'.
